EDITO

New venue, new dimension

Because street art was born in urban spaces, and because those who encourage it are often dependent on the sites that host them, this year I wanted to present street art’s impetus towards new technologies. I was also keen to showcase collaborations between artists from different artistic backgrounds.

Augmented reality frescoes, NFT tickets, games areas, software demos created by and/or for graffiti artists – digital art has played an important role in the identity of Peinture Fraîche since the first edition. Ever since new technologies became an integral part of our daily lives, street artists have embraced them, some using digital tools and others creating 3.0 works distributed exclusively online.

That’s why, for this 6th edition, choosing this new, confidential venue meant inviting the new, eminently digital, urban arts scene. The move to this new, more intimate venue and the advent of a new digital scene in urban art were a perfect match for the artistic vision I’m defending.

Interactivity and augmented reality:
public at the heart of the project

New for this 6th edition, the festival has been entirely designed to bring together digital art and street art through the exhibition of four interactive frescoes, augmented reality and some fifteen emerging or established international digital artists.

This under-represented universe will take shape on the screens of the public, who will in turn become actors in what they are watching, by creating digital works via virtual reality, for example. Visitors will be able to take part in the process of creating digital works through various forms of participation, as well as attending table-top workshops where they can create lettering, collages, comics, characters and more. The more contemplative visitors can continue to discover artists’ canvases and other objects from the graffiti culture in the Shop or in the Artshow area.
